How long does it take?
- The coaching relationship is likely to last between six and twelve months with meetings on a fortnightly or monthly basis.
- The duration of each session is generally 90 minutes.
Where will the coaching be done?
- Coaching for corporate clients is usually at their offices. Coaching for individuals can be undertaken at the privacy of my practice in North London if preferred. I also offer coaching by phone as and when appropriate.
What other contact should I expect outside of meetings?
- I am in touch with clients by e-mail and phone throughout the course of the coaching as and when required.
- As a guide, my programme would usually allow for four conversations in any one month in addition to the monthly coaching sessions and email.
If I decide to go ahead, what happens next?
If you are a corporate client, once you have decided you would like to hire me to coach you or executives within your organisation, we arrange an initial meeting at your offices.
This exploratory meeting would cover:
- Introduction of myself, my role, experience and background
- Assessment of your needs and objectives
- Your current situation developing executives and talent management
- Overview of your company culture
- Benefits of coaching
- My approach and coaching model
What happens after the exploratory meeting?
Following our initial meeting I will provide a proposal tailored to your needs including costs.
If you want to proceed, the next steps are to discuss and agree:
- Selection of executives for coaching (or individual programme for the CEO or MD)
- Organisation and line manager overview
- Coaching contract, success criteria and evaluation method
- Confidentiality and stakeholders
- Financial commitment and timetable overview
- Issue management
- Reporting
Then the meeting with executives to be coached is scheduled and includes:
- Introduction of myself, my role and background
- Confidentiality and relationship with stakeholders
- Explanation of the process and possibilities
- Assessment of the executive’s current situation
- Exploration of potential blocks
- Rapport check to ensure a good match
- Possibility of 360º degree data collection and feedback
- Objectives and goals
- Timing of reviews
- Commitment of client – time, effort and honesty
- Timetable for sessions/logistics
Will your executive coaching fix poor performance?
My coaching model is more focused on individual development and not primarily concerned with fixing poor performance.
Do you use psychometric tests?
I am happy to use recent psychometric tests your organisation may already have; if new tests are required, this can be arranged and will be charged separately. I prefer Myers-Briggs (MBTI).
What are your fees?
These are negotiated separately with each client on the basis of the scope of programme that is required.
What do your fees generally cover?
Usually a three or six month programme of six coaching sessions with e-mail and phone support
What are your terms?
50% on engagement, balance on completion of 50% of the sessions.
What is your cancellation policy?
Rescheduling or cancellations of appointment should be done at least 48 hours before planned date, otherwise charges may be incurred. The coaching agreement is based on an initial commitment of at least six sessions.
What if additional coaching is needed?
- My coaching clients may e-mail or call me between scheduled sessions, generally four telephone calls and e-mails a month are included in the initial programme.
- Additional sessions can be scheduled and will be charged accordingly.
What about confidentiality?
- I recognise that all the information a client shares with me is confidential, whether it is business or personal.
- I undertake not to disclose any information a client shares with me without their prior written permission.
- All coaching notes are kept in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
- The coach preserves the confidentiality of the individual executive and the corporate employer without prejudicing the interests of any other parties.
- It is important in a corporate context, that an individual receiving coaching feels sure that remarks made in private, remain confidential and are not reported directly back to the employer.
- The employer who has hired the coach will be aware of the agreed goals and objectives and can expect regular feedback, updates and reviews on progress. The coach will not, however, compromise any confidences.
Is coaching counselling or therapy?
- Coaching should not be construed as psychological counselling or therapy.
- Coaching is a supportive and practical process that is results oriented.
What is your coaching model?
- My focus is increasing self awareness, developing emotional intelligence, addressing skills gaps, promoting personal development and changing behavioural patterns. This takes place within an agreed time frame with a clear set of objectives. It’s a goal-oriented approach, tailored to suit busy executives as well as individual professionals.
What areas of corporate skills have you worked on recently?
- Strategic and creative thinking
- Confidence issues
- Vision and focus
- Project management and decision making
- Ability to facilitate meetings
- Communication skills
- Management of team effectiveness
- Goal setting and motivation
- Improving emotional intelligence
What approaches do you use?
Although each coaching programme is tailor-made to the individual, I draw on various approaches, including CBT (cognitive behavioural training) and NLP (neuro-linguistic programming). I use various models for setting and achieving goals, 360º feedback, emotional intelligence models and, if helpful, psychometric tests. I am both instinctive and creative and draw on my own broad personal and professional experience as well as my professional coaching training. My years of experience as a successful executive and personal coach are also invaluable. I’m pleased to say that feedback from past clients has always been positive and I am confident that after completing an initial coaching programme with me, you (or your executives) will have achieved most of your goals and a rewarding return on your investment.
